DAP sacks members who aided defected reps

Malaysiakini

DAP has sacked party members who aided its assemblypersons that have defected to Perikatan Nasional.
DAP disciplinary committee chairperson Chong Chieng Jen said the committee today had decided to sack party members Kong Lai Ling, Ng Sook Whye and Khi Poh Chong.
He said the decision was based on complaints made against them to the disciplinary committee after the trio held a counter-protest in support of Tronoh assemblyperson Paul Yong Choo Kiong.
"The disciplinary committee reiterates that it will not tolerate members who accept positions from the PN government or continue to assist assemblypersons who have betrayed the party's struggle.
"Stern action will be taken if the committee receives any complaints," he said.
Yong, who was a DAP lawmaker, had quit the party to support PN in Perak, prompting a protest at his service centre.
Yong announced his defection on March 9, together with then DAP's Buntong assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam.
Sivasubramaniam later joined Gerakan, which is now friendly to PN.
Chong said the DAP disciplinary committee had also identified party members who attended Sivasubramaniam's press conference on June 26 to announce his entry into Gerakan and has issued show-cause letters against them.
They are Dan Adriel Daniel Velloo, Angeline Philip Joe Philip, P Murugiah, Joseph Hendry Kovil Pillai John, Amir Abdullah, R Marimutu, S Theivanai and William John Johin Bin.
Chong said the committee also decided to suspend party member Loh Eng Soon for sullying the Perak DAP leadership. - Mkini
