ALOR SETAR: Muhyiddin Yassin was proposed by Muafakat Nasional as the candidate for prime minister after the next general election as he was seen as being the best choice for the country, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
He said Muafakat Nasional (the alliance of Umno and PAS) had supported Muhyiddin, president of PPBM as being the best candidate.
He said: “…we support, which means we are not greedy, we accept what is good, the people choose and assess. We see this as being the best for the people and country. This is the decision by Muafakat Nasional.
“We had our own candidates. But what is important is that Muhyiddin is accepted by the people and what he has done so far has been the best for the country, and we must continue this good.”
Tuan Ibrahim was responding to a statement yesterday by the president of Parti Putra Malaysia, Ibrahim Ali, who described the announcement of Muhyiddin as prime minister candidate to be proof that all the leaders in Umno and PAS were not qualified for the post.
Last Thursday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in a Facebook post said his party had decided to name Muhyiddin as prime minister candidate in GE15 while Muafakat Nasional co-secretary general Annuar Musa said that MN had agreed in principle to continue supporting Muhyiddin as prime minister candidate. - FMT
