No pressure from Selangor MB to quit as exco, says Haniza

Haniza Talha was sacked along with four other PKR leaders on June 28.
KUALA KUBU BHARU: Former PKR Wanita chief Haniza Talha says there has been no pressure from Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari for her to relinquish her state executive councillor’s post despite having been sacked by the party last week.
However, she said another Pakatan Harapan (PH) executive councillor had instructed the secretary of a meeting she recently attended to remove her name from the list of attendees.
“Exco positions will only be terminated through a letter from the menteri besar and not through the instruction of political parties,” the Housing and Urban Living Committee chairman told FMT at the sidelines of an event here today.
PKR’s central leadership council sacked Haniza along with four others on June 28, agreeing with recommendations from the party’s disciplinary board.
Haniza had her membership suspended on April 6 for holding a meeting with former PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and former vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur in February.
She had described her sacking from the party as an “act of revenge”, adding that PKR was “hunting down” members aligned to Azmin.
She had also said she would continue to serve her constituency as an independent. - FMT
