Abdul Razak Musa has been made the new solicitor-general, replacing Engku Nor Faizah Engku Atek who turned 60 this month.
The appointment has yet to be officially announced but Malaysiakini has sought confirmation from Attorney-General Idrus Harun.
This is a powerful position which acts as the deputy to the attorney-general and can perform any of the functions of the attorney-general.
As a prosecutor, Razak's (above) most prominent case was when he represented the MACC during the inquest into the death of former political aide Teoh Beng Hock.
When Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand was testifying in the inquest, Razak had raised the possibility of Teoh strangling himself and demonstrated how it was possible before the Coroner's Court.
Pornthip had testified that there were signs of manual strangulation on Teoh's neck. - Mkini
