PETALING JAYA: The number of flood victims still seeking shelter at relief centres in Sarawak dropped to 33 this morning from 38 yesterday.
The civil defence force said two relief centres were still in operation in the Subis district in Miri.
“Five victims from two families are at the centre at the Sepupok Niah community hall, while another 28 from eight families are housed at the Bekenu community hall,” Bernama quoted it as saying.
In Sabah, the number of flood victims at relief centres in three districts remained at 122, involving 32 families, this morning.
The Sabah flood management committee said 61 of the victims from 11 families were at the centre at Dewan Projek Perumahan Rakyat Sri Keramat in Putatan; 51 victims from 19 families at Dewan DSP Mohd Dun Banir in Beaufort; and 10 victims from two families at Kompleks Latihan dan Pemulihan OKU in Papar.
The centre at Dewan Kebudayaan in Penampang was closed yesterday after all the 20 evacuees, from four families, were allowed to return home.
The Sabah state railway department said two temporary lines will start operating today following a landslide incident at the Dampai tunnel in Papar on Monday. - FMT
