PETALING JAYA: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) secretary-general Baru Bian will be contesting the Lawas parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).
Speaking to Malay Mail, PSB president Wong Soon Koh said Baru would not be defending the Selangau seat he won in GE14 on a PKR ticket. Baru left the party to become an independent after the Sheraton Move.
“Baru was going to defend the Selangau seat but he had decided to move to Lawas,” said Wong.
“We are looking for people to contest in Selangau but we have not finalised the name yet.”
The Lawas seat has been held by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) Henry Sum Agong since the 2008 general election, with the federal constituency created three years prior in 2005.
PBB is a member of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.
Meanwhile, Wong said he would be contesting in Sibu, where he would be facing DAP’s Oscar Ling and a yet-to-be-named GPS candidate.
Stating that PSB would also nominate candidates in Lubok Antu, Miri, Serian and Sri Aman, Wong added that the party was also studying the possibility of contesting in two other seats. - FMT
