PADANG TERAP: A Bersatu division chief, Syed Sobri Syed Hashim, has announced he has quit the party, and claimed that more than 1,000 members from the Padang Terap division were also leaving.
They included four branch leaders and committee members of several branches in the Padang Terap division, he said.
Syed Sobri said they had lost confidence in the top leadership of the party who were seen to be looking after their own interests rather than fighting for the people.
“When we were fighting for the people, the superiors classified leaders like me as second class,” he said.
Syed Sobri was assemblyman for Kuala Nerang from 2008 to 2013, while he was with Barisan Nasional.
He said those who followed him out of the party would gather under a community organisation which will provide support to the BN candidate for the Padang Terap parliamentary constituency in the general election. - FMT
