The police have questioned New Straits Times group chief editor Farrah Naz Karim for over three hours following its report on a supposed Mossad operation in Kuala Lumpur to abduct a Palestinian national.
She is understood to have entered the Dang Wangi police district headquarters at around 1pm and left at 4.40pm.
In a statement later, Farrah (above) said the police investigation, among others, wanted to know how the NST obtained detailed information on the kidnapping.
“I explained that it is part and parcel of investigative journalism, to produce detailed reports, even if it may end up being uncomfortable for some.
“We are sworn to perform our duties without fear or favour, and this was exactly what happened in the series of exposés published,” she said in the statement to Malaysiakini.
Yesterday morning, NST published a report claiming that the Israeli intelligence agency had recruited Malaysian citizens to abduct a Palestinian.
The report claimed that the target of the abduction has ties to Hamas and its armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades.
The Malaysian police were able to thwart the kidnapping but have yet to establish any Mossad involvement in the incident and urged members of the public not to speculate.
