PETALING JAYA: A social media post claiming that the Malaysian delegation at the Asean Transport Ministers Meeting in Bali was not taking their work seriously has been refuted by Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said that the post, which showed the delegation sitting at a conference table across from their counterparts with no documents in front of them, was misleading.
"What the photo does not show is that there were 44 bilateral meetings and dozens of briefings and conversations before and during ICAO Assembly from Sept 25 to Oct 4, 2022 in Canada.
"Much of the meeting was both sides updating on subjects we know by heart and at hand. Subjects include the Asean-EU Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement (AE-CATA which was signed on Oct 17, 2022 in Bali), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development, and the ICAO agenda.
"After all those preparations, we have already got our facts and info memorised between myself and ministry staff," he said on Facebook on Wednesday (Oct 19).
He added that the photo was selectively chosen by Opposition "cyber troopers"
"If we can not do that (memorise facts), we must be PH leaders," he said
