PETALING JAYA: The micro and affordable franchise (F3M) roadshow organised by the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry (KPDNHEP) attracted over 1,000 participants.

The nationwide roadshow, which ended recently, organised activities such as business pitching and matching sessions, consultations, talks, and exhibitions by franchise companies offering micro-scale and affordable business start-up packages, including financial assistance and financing by the government.

KPDNHEP secretary-general Azman Mohd Yusof said the roadshow, which was kicked off on Jan 8, was part of the F3M programme aimed at developing the micro-scale franchise industry and providing opportunities for the B40 and M40 income groups to venture into franchising.

The roadshow was held to raise awareness about the F3M programme as well as to promote business opportunities within the franchise industry to the general public.

“I take this opportunity to encourage all entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs to seize all opportunities and incentives provided by the government to help expand your businesses,” he said in a speech during the roadshow.

The roadshow was organised by the ministry in collaboration with the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) in multiple locations across the country this year.

The F3M programme also includes the provision of full grants for franchisors to develop more affordable franchise packages worth RM100,000 and below, as well as micro franchise packages worth RM50,000 or less.

Other initiatives include the provision of bridging grants to aid the B40 and M40 in dealing with the cost involved to start franchise businesses, with up to 90% financing for eligible franchisees.

Azman said since last year, the ministry had endorsed and approved 41 grant recipients comprising 19 full grants and 33 bridging grants. Today, 11 more will receive full grants.

MFA chairman Radzali Hassan said the association was honoured to collaborate with KPDNHEP to make the F3M programme a success. - FMT
