Bersatu confirmed that it will not work with Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).
Party president Muhyiddin Yassin said Bersatu has also taken note of the Harapan presidential council's decision not to cooperate with them.
"Regarding the report on cooperation between Bersatu and Harapan, Bersatu has made a decision not to cooperate with Harapan in facing GE15.
"Bersatu will focus on efforts to strengthen Perikatan Nasional (PN) together with PAS, Gerakan, SAPP, and Star as a political coalition of various races in this country, aimed at creating a corruption-free, efficient, and caring leadership for the prosperity of all," he said in a statement today.
Muhyiddin, who is also the PN chairperson, said that in line with democracy and the rakyat’s freedom of choice, Bersatu is ready to face a multi-faceted competition in GE15.
This will involve BN, Harapan, and other competing political parties.
At a press conference held at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya on Oct 13, Anwar had not dismissed the possibility of working with both Pejuang president Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin again as long as they can commit to Harapan’s ideals.
However, Harapan communications director Fahmi Fadzil clarified later that PKR has no intention of courting the duo.
Anwar has not been on good terms with Mahathir and Muhyiddin following the Sheraton Move political coup in 2020, which caused the collapse of the Harapan federal government.
Previously, Muhyiddin said his party was open to considering cooperation with Pejuang in GE15. - Mkini
