GEORGE TOWN: The recent bad weather has caused small landslides and fallen branches at various spots on Penang Hill.
The Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 18) its hill maintenance team has cleared the blockages for the safety of residents, visitors and hikers.
"Penang Hill recently saw fallen branches and small landslides (that were) immediately cleared.
"Due to current weather conditions, hikers are advised to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety (while on) Penang Hill.
"Kindly refrain from hiking during adverse weather conditions," PHC cautioned on its social media accounts.
The landslides were said to have blocked designated trails while the fallen branches were large enough to obstruct hill paths.
Muddy water could be seen covering most of the trails after the landslides.
The recent bout of heavy rain also resulted in floods in various parts of Penang in the past week. - Star
