Loke piles on criticism against Hadi’s communist claim

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said DAP’s 50-year history proved it was not a communist party.

IPOH: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has joined the chorus of criticism against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over his claim that DAP is “pro-communist”.

Dismissing Hadi’s claim, Loke pointed out that the Islamic party’s president had previously cooperated with DAP leaders such as Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng.

“Perhaps he (Hadi) has forgotten this,” Loke said at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Convention last night.

Hadi, in a series of tweets, said DAP should be opposed as it was “pro-communist”, adding that communists “terrorise more than the Christian and Jewish colonisers”.

It was previously reported that Hadi, in a Friday sermon in Marang, had said PAS would not work with PH as the coalition was led by “communists” and was supportive of the LGBTQ community while Barisan Nasional (BN) was “shady”.

PH leaders then hit out at Hadi’s claim. DAP national chairman Lim said Hadi’s claim was “pure fakery” and smacked of hypocrisy.

He said PAS should never be allowed to be part of the next government as it was racist and extremist.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said Hadi’s remarks were aimed at creating doubt among voters to cover up the party’s shortcomings, such as its failed attempt at tabling a private member’s bill to enhance shariah law penalties.

Loke said DAP was not a communist party and had a history of over 50 years to prove it. - FMT
