KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is unfazed by the Government's decision not to allow the use of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA), saying that the coalition will use Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) for the upcoming 15th General Elections.

"The government has not approved the use of GTA, a combination, collective of the people from all walks of life to form a government that is clean, efficient and trustworthy.

"So now GTA is forced to use Pejuang instead for the upcoming 15th General Elections (GE15). GTA is made up of Malays who are poor and facing issues and difficulties. Only Malays will understand what the Malays are facing and enduring," he said in his Facebook post earlier today.

He lamented that in the past, Malays were protected by governments who were dominated and led by Malays (the old Umno). However, he said that Umno under (former Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib Razak had a different agenda. Instead of protecting and advancing the Malays, it went on to make Umno leaders rich.

"This is why GTA was established-- to protect, advance and develop the Malays. It will go back to Umno's original, initial struggle. A GTA-led government will be able to restore the country and develop, advance Malays like what the previous Umno used to do.

"Our focus is not to seize power but to restore the country's politics, economy and finances. We will overcome poverty that has weakened the Malay economy so much so that they have resorted to selling their lands.

"GTA will be known as Pejuang for GE15 because the government did not approve the registration of GTA. But Pejuang, just like GTA, is a Malay movement that is concerned about the struggle and problems of Malays that Umno is not bothered about," said the Langkawi member of Parliament .

The elder statesman of Malaysian politics also called on voters to vote for Pejuang which represents GTA as a means to preserve the future of Malays and to ensure they are able to have a say in this multiracial and multicultural country. - NST
