Migrant worker issue: Don't know? Ask - Saravanan tells Rafizi

The migrant worker shortage continues to be a hotly debated topic between Human Resources Minister M Saravanan and the opposition.

In the latest development regarding the matter, Saravanan today criticised PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli for being unprofessional and wrapped around DAP’s finger.

This comes after Rafizi claimed the minister failed to address the migrant worker shortage in Malaysia.

“Rafizi, oh Rafizi. Hard to make you understand. This issue of migrant worker shortage had been resolved a long time ago... If you do not know what the real issue is, you should ask. I know that Rafizi is ‘very clever’.

“Don’t turn this issue into some political speech... It sounds like you do not have any other issue to bring up, and when Lim Guan Eng from DAP said the migrant workers shortage is still unresolved, Rafizi simply takes what the DAP chairperson claimed.

“This is exactly what I meant when I said DAP would have the power if people give their votes to PKR,” he said.

Saravanan (above) was speaking to reporters after launching an event in Damansara, Selangor, earlier today.

He was asked to comment on a statement made by Rafizi recently, alleging that he failed as a minister for not being able to address the alleged shortage of migrant workers.

The minister also lambasted Rafizi, calling him someone who “magically” appears during election season.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, he did not appear to contribute ideas. But now, when Lim claims the issue of migrant workers is still unresolved, he suddenly comes out and repeats it,” Saravanan said.

Saravanan, who is the incumbent Tapah MP, held a briefing on the issue with opposition leaders at his office in Putrajaya last Wednesday (Oct 5).

Among those who attended included Lim as well as DAP’s Beruas and Ipoh Barat MPs Ngeh Koo Ham and M Kulasegaran.

The session was organised as Lim previously criticised Savananan over the issue of migrant worker supply in the country. - Mkini
