KUCHING: The number of victims evacuated to relief centres due to floods in Sarawak has increased to 38, after the evacuation of 22 others from three villages in Subis, Miri, last night.
In a statement, the civil defence force said four victims from two families in Kampung Dagang Sepupok Niah were evacuated to the relief centre at the Sepupok Niah community hall.
The remaining 18 from four families were from Kampung Jenggalas and Kampung Dagang in Bekenu. They were evacuated to the relief centre at the Bekenu community hall.
Meanwhile, 16 people from three families in Kapit, the first group to be evacuated due to the floods, were still at the relief centre at the social development and urbanisation ministry’s hostel in Kapit. - FMT
