Mukhriz to defend Jerlun seat

 

Incumbent Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir has announced his intention to defend his seat in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

“Even though we have done a lot for the wellbeing of the people of Jerlun, we realise there is still a lot that needs to be done.

“Hence, I offer myself to continue representing Jerlun as its elected representative.

“With full humility, Pejuang, which is a component of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA), and I would like to ask to be given your trust to serve all the people of Jerlun once more,” said the Pejuang president in a video on Facebook today.

Thanking the people of Jerlun for trusting him to be their elected representative in 2008 and again in 2018, he asked for their support and votes in GE15.

He said throughout his years of service in the federal constituency, there are many things he has done to help better the lives of the people there.

Among others, he said, they have built a new sports complex, new schools, a new district office, and worked on a low-cost housing project.

Mukhriz first contested and won the Jerlun seat in the 2008 general election, under the Umno banner.

He later gave up his parliamentary seat to contest in the Kedah state seat of Ayer Hitam in the 2013 general election, which paved the way for him to become the state’s menteri besar.

In the 2018 general election, he contested in Jerlun again, winning on a Bersatu ticket.

The parliamentary constituency contains the state seats of Ayer Hitam and Kota Siputeh. - Mkini
