Never mind the next PM, just return our rights, says Kitingan

 

Jeffrey Kitingan said GRS had successfully overcome disunity among the political parties in the state.

PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is not interested in who the next prime minister will be but demands that the rights of Sabahans be returned, a leader of one of its coalition partners said.

Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Jeffrey Kitingan said GRS is now in a strong position to challenge decisions made by the federal government and ensure that the rights of Sabahans are protected.

“We under GRS don’t care who will become prime minister. What’s important to us is to have all our rights returned,” he said at a coalition event in Tenom, Sabah.

Kitingan said Sabahans had long suffered due to disunity among the political parties in the state. However, GRS had successfully resolved this, he added.

“It’s not easy to bring political friends and foes together, but GRS has done it.

“The coalition has finally come up with a formula to bring all the leaders together with only one thing in mind — unity as a source of power,” he said.

Kitingan added that through the prevailing political unity in the state, GRS would become a political force that was able to “rise above the powers that be in Kuala Lumpur”.

GRS comprises Sabah Bersatu, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), STAR, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation (Usno). - FMT
