KUALA LUMPUR: Pas will use the Islamic party's logo in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah in the 15th General Election (GE15), said its deputy president, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
In other states, he said, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo will most likely be used.
"It has been finalised and will be tabled at the PN Supreme Leadership Council," he said in an interview with Harakah Daily yesterday.
Yesterday, the Pas Central Executive Committee meeting decided that Pas would throw its backing for PN in GE15.
Commenting on Pas's decision not to dissolve the State Legislative Assemblies of Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, he said the move was adopted because Pas did not want to be dragged down by the people's anger for dissolving the state assemblies in the three states.
"Our issue here is that the people are angry with the dissolution of Parliament. We do not want to be dragged along with the anger of the people if we dissolve the state assemblies.
"We also need to be consistent, in fact we have sent a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong stating that we do not agree if the general election is held during the flood season," he was quoted as saying by the Pas mouth piece.
He stressed that if the three state assemblies were dissolved, it would contradict what had already been decided.
"Therefore, we are consistent with the decision that the state assemblies in the three states will not be dissolved.
"The issue is of cost and so on, we admit. But (this) is their mistake, not ours. Why are they dissolving Parliament at this time?
"The people will be in trouble if there is a flood. Schools will end up becoming a temporary evacuation centre if there is a flood. We are worried.
"We are afraid of the people's anger which is now very visible," he said.
Meanwhile, on the party's move to be with PN in GE15, he said because the party was a registered member of PN, then the party would be with PN.
"Because they (Umno) don't want to be with (PN) and they (Umno) have already gone solo, so we are with PN.
"Because Umno has decided to go solo many times. They want to go solo. Since they have decided to go solo, do we want to go with them?," he asked.
On the list of candidates for Parliament and state seats, he said that the party had already instructed its respective state chapters to send in the candidates' list immediately to be decided by the party's Syura Council.
"They will send at least three names (for each seat) and the Syura Council will examine the candidate's qualifications and decide before submitting the list to the party leadership to determine who among the three will be picked.
On Muafakat Nasional, he said the idea of uniting the ummah should be continued and the matter would be re-examined.
"We will see how it will be. The unification of the ummah is still ongoing". - NST
