PETALING JAYA: PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said discussions on Muda’s possible cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the 15th general election (GE15) are in final stages.
“It’s almost a done deal. There are certain key conditions, such as seat allocations, that we are looking into.
“So once these conditions are agreed upon, an announcement will be made,” he told reporters at the PKR headquarters today.
Yesterday, PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition was only considering an electoral pact with Muda for GE15 instead of admitting it as a component party.
Anwar said it would be difficult to bring Muda in as PH’s fifth component party as it would need to be approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Previously, he had denied claims that the coalition had rejected Muda’s application to form an alliance ahead of GE15, adding that negotiations were still ongoing and progress had been made.
He was commenting on a media report quoting sources in PKR who claimed that the PH presidential council had rejected Muda’s application to join the coalition at a meeting last week.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had declared the party’s intention to join PH last month. An official application was made on Sept 9. - FMT
