The chief minister’s office says a viral WhatsApp message claiming Ab Rauf Yusoh had signed the state assembly dissolution order is fake.

Its media communications head Norhafizah Sati said the message circulating on WhatsApp was fake and urged the public and media not to believe unverified information.
“I have not been informed of any meeting today between the chief minister and the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka. Any statement will be promptly communicated by the chief minister’s office.
“The viral message is completely untrue. We ask our media friends not to believe any such information without confirmation from the Melaka chief minister’s office,” she said in a statement.
Earlier, a message went viral claiming that Rauf had signed the state assembly dissolution document with Yang Dipertua Negeri Ali Rustam this morning.
Barisan Nasional, led by Rauf, formed the state government after winning 21 of the 28 seats in the 2021 state election.
Pakatan Harapan won five seats while Perikatan Nasional won two.
The Melaka state assembly’s current term ends in December, unless it is dissolved earlier.
Elections must be held within 60 days of dissolution. - FMT
