Sport court to publish full decision against heritage players in weeks; Malacca CM denies legislature dissolved

- The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to publish the full grounds of its decision against the naturalisation of seven Harimau Malaya players by the end of this month.

According to the New Straits Times, the Switzerland-based tribunal confirmed that its full reasoned award, which details the evidence and legal findings in the case involving the footballers, is in its final stages.

The grounds, which are also said to include the full legal reasoning and the evidence and arguments the tribunal considered, come after the CAS announced its operative decision in March.

Malacca polls

- The Malacca Chief Minister’s Office has denied viral claims that the state assembly was dissolved today.

Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh’s (below) media communications chief, Nor Hafizah Sati, said the office had not been informed of any meeting between Rauf and governor Ali Rustam as alleged in a WhatsApp message.

“Everything being circulated is completely untrue. We urge media colleagues not to believe any information circulated without confirmation from the Chief Minister’s Office,” she said, according to MalaysiaGazette.

The message claimed the pair signed the dissolution documents at about 10.30am at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh.

Malacca’s 28-seat assembly began its five-year term following the November 2021 state election and will automatically expire in December, after which an election must be held within 60 days. - Mkini
