Eight shots fired at victims inside vehicle by two men on a motorcycle.
KOTA KINABALU: Two men in a four-wheel drive were shot dead by unknown assailants on a motorcycle in Jalan Kolam here early this morning.
Sabah Criminal Investigation Department chief Salehhuddin Abdul Rahman said the victims were Hii Lam King, 36, and Ting Wen Hou, 23, both originally from Sibu, Sarawak, but now residing in Sabah.
Salehhuddin said in the 7.30am incident, Hii, was driving the four-wheel drive vehicle back to his house after sending his children to school.
“Eight shots were fired at the victims,” he told reporters when met at the location today.
He added that another man, Ting’s twin, who was also in the 4-WD, escaped injury.
Salehhuddin said police immediately held roadblocks at all exits from the city after being alerted about the shooting.
“We have not identified the motive for the incident but we will investigate from all angles,” he said.
Meanwhile, a witness said he was driving to work and was shocked to hear the sound of gunshots followed by his car being rammed in the back by the 4-WD vehicle.
He said he caught a glimpse of the two men on the motorcycle but could not identify them.
“I was in a daze. I got out of my car and went elsewhere to calm myself down,” the witness said.
