“I never said or indicated, either directly or indirectly, that Peter Anthony had filed for a royal pardon.
“I did say that the state assembly received a notification from the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) office that Peter will be filing for a judicial review,” The Borneo Post reported Kadzim as saying.
Kadzim also said the state assembly did not receive any formal notification rom Peter’s lawyers, but received copies of the sealed application documents for the judicial review.
On Saturday, the Daily Express quoted Kadzim as saying Peter’s lawyers had notified him that Peter had applied for a royal pardon.
Yesterday, KDM also dismissed reports that the former party president had applied for a royal pardon for his forgery conviction and prison sentence.
KDM secretary-general Willie Jude Junaidi said Peter had only applied for a review by the appeals court of his conviction and sentence, after his final appeal was dismissed on March 4. - FMT
