PETALING JAYA: A heavy downpour in Petaling Jaya today triggered a landslide in Jalan 20/14, here.
The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) said initial checks at the site revealed a slope failure involving a drainage structure.
Following the severe weather, which also caused flash floods and uprooted trees, the council mobilised its Rapid Response Squad and relevant technical units to carry out clean-up operations, monitoring, and risk management at all affected locations.
"All incidents are currently being, and have been, addressed by MBPJ's technical teams.
"Among the areas affected (by flash floods) include Medan Selera 223, PJS 2/3, PJS 4/21B, PJS 6, Jalan 17/21H, and Taman Buana Perdana," the council said in a statement today.
MBPJ added that floodwaters at all affected locations had fully receded by 8.43pm.
"In addition, several incidents of uprooted trees were reported around Jalan Barat (near Wisma Daju), Jalan PJU 8/3A, Jalan Templer, and behind Restoran Sederhana in Section 8.
"As such, the public is advised to remain cautious, avoid the affected areas, and refrain from driving through flooded roads to prevent any safety risks.
"MBPJ also advises the public against approaching large drains and rivers due to the strong water currents," the statement read.
The council added that it will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and provide updates periodically. - FMT
