Bukit Aman CID chief M Kumar says police arrested the woman in her 20s after her account of the crime raised doubts.

Police will seek a remand order for the woman, in her 20s, and the alleged abductor, aged 27, tomorrow.
“We are still investigating the motive of the incident,” Bukit Aman criminal investigation department chief M Kumar said in a statement.
Kumar said police received a report yesterday from a 43-year-old woman in Sarawak claiming that her daughter had been abducted, with the kidnapper demanding RM18,000 in ransom.
He said the “victim” was subsequently rescued by a task force comprising officers from Bukit Aman, Johor and Sarawak at about 3.30pm from a house at Taman Perniagaan Setia, Johor Bahru.
Police also arrested the suspect, who had a record for three criminal offences, including two related to drugs, and seized four mobile phones. - FMT
“A preliminary investigation raised doubts about the victim’s account of the alleged kidnapping, leading to her arrest to facilitate the probe,” he said.
