1MDB folk get free lunch at rakyat’s expense

YOURSAY | 'The country is RM41.7 billion in debt and strangely enough, one family is still smiling... '
Anonymous 1906531489659749: With RM41.7 billion, we could have built 840,000 units of low cost flats at RM50,000 per unit.
Corruption takes a heavy toll on the poor. The people who are supposed to be helping them are allegedly stealing from them.
This travesty must not be allowed to continue. All of us must do our part.
Warrant Addict: With this debt of RM41.7 billion, with our population of 30 million, each one of us including babies, Orang Asli, pak lebai and all have to pay an average of RM1,400 each.
So, a family of 10 will have to pay as much as RM140,000. Thanks Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) for the suffering you have given to the people.
Aktan: What a mess we are in. The country has landed itself in RM41.7 billion of debt, and our national assets are gone and strangely enough, one family is still smiling over this.
Relatives of this family think they don’t have to suffer any loss, but I bet your last dollar, their future generation will suffer. All for the "love" of one person, in exchange for all the suffering of millions to come.
Shunyata: Relax, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua. Our coffers are still filled. Why, even Permata can still sponsor 32 people plus one very important individual to London for half a month under the Nobelist Mindset programme.
Now is not the right time to cook up a storm to rain over happy, innocent voters of the BN regime. It's cruel to do so.
Jaycee: Surely the people involved in ‘bankrupting’ the country should have all their assets frozen? No, instead they are still in power, possibly shredding evidence to cover themselves from this mother of all heists.
Surely someone from the ruling party has enough guts to say enough is enough.
Kim Quek: It is safe to say the billions borrowed by 1MDB since its inception in 2009, practically all have been allegedly stolen except the RM12.1 billion used to buy the power assets.
During all these years, what economic development has been carried out by 1MDB? Nil. And what foreign investment has been brought into the country by 1MDB? Nil.
It is also safe to say that for such astounding performance by a country’s sovereign wealth fund, 1MDB is unsurpassed by any in the world. And who is primarily responsible for this unique “accomplishment”? Our Honourable Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Can you imagine what will happen if he is to helm this country for another five years?
Hardboiled: You know Malaysia is screwed when the following happened in recent times and nothing is done about them:
1. Racist remarks by Malay fascists and Islamic extremists.
2. Selling off of national assets to foreigners.
3. Proof surfaces of massive amounts of money going into the bank account of the PM.
4. Bank Negara's reserves and our currency's value dropped substantially.
5. Even more undergraduates are unemployed and the government spends less on mainstream education, but more on religious schools (how is the government's target of future high-income graduates going to be realised? Highly-paid ulamas? Hundreds more of Zakir Naiks?).
6. Having installed the National Security Council (NSC) where the PM and its council are protected from repercussions of its use on the rakyat.
7. Having a massive scam in 1MDB and not even one soul has been remanded, let alone arrested.
We are at the edge of the cliff. So, I don't care about the RM42 billion. I care that as a taxpayer, the overall view of Malaysia's future is dim. Very dim indeed.
Dont Just Talk: Pua, it is not that Malaysians love to keep MO1 around, but with 51 percent of popular votes garnered by Pakatan Rakyat at the 13th general election and it was still unable to dislodge BN, what more can Malaysians do?
Especially when Sabah and Sarawak still remain as their fixed deposit, and gerrymandering of seats still exists in Malaysia.
Shovelnose: Forget about the tainted democratic practice known as elections. After absconding with billions, they'll leave you with debts to pay out for eternity. Just let the country collapse financially.
The phoenix shall arise with a new constitution and more equitable stakeholders, not just a lopsided so-called social contract.
FairMind: As usual, MO1 tried to pull a fast one on China by asking them to put the money upfront to rescue 1MDB, promising them sky and earth and goodies which cannot be fulfilled in due course.
He thinks China could be as gullible and easy to intimidate as the locals, but China would have none of that.
Tell The Truth: First, MO1 sells Edra Energy to the Chinese, and soon Malaysians will have to pay a bomb for the use of electricity. Which country would sell their key assets to a foreign country?
Now the Chinese are returning to negotiate. Soon Bandar Malaysia will be pawned off again because MO1 needs to save his own butt.
Just A Malaysian: Chinese GLCs (government-linked companies) are not like Malaysian GLCs. They are sharp and tough business people. Corruption does exist in Chinese GLCs, but they have very specific political and strategic goals.
Our leaders, in all their naivety, are no match for them. We must deal with them using our best brains, and definitely not in times of desperation as we are in now.

Apa Ini?: Najib was looking for a free lunch. The sad truth is we, the rakyat, are the ones paying.- Mkini
