‘BUT THEY WORK HERE LEGALLY, THEY HAVE PERMITS’ – WIVES OF ARRESTED TURKISH DUO SHOCKED AT IGP’S SUDDEN U-TURN

KUALA LUMPUR – The wives of the two Turkish men who were earlier thought to have been abducted have claimed that their husbands are not involved in any illegal activities
Earlier on Wednesday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that two Turkish men – Turgay Karaman and Ihsan Aslan –  had been arrested for activities that threaten the safety of Malaysia under Section 130 of the Penal Code.
Turgay’s wife Ayse Gul Karaman said she did not know why her husband and the other man, Ihsan Aslan, were detained.
“We just read the news. But they work here legally, they have permits. They have never hurt anyone,” said the 38-year-old, who has lived in Malaysia with her husband for 15 years.
Ayse told the media at the Jalan Duta Court Complex here on Wednesday that the police has not contacted them yet.
Meanwhile, Ihsan’s 35-year-old wife Ainnurul Aisyah Yunos Ali Maricar said her husband failed to return home from work on Tuesday night.
Ainnurul said she and her husband own a shawl wholesale business and that they have been married for 15 years and have three children.
“We tracked his (phone) GPS and he was near the Defence Ministry in Jalan Maktab. After that, his phone was switched off. I have lodged a police report but there is no news until now. I am begging the Government to please release him,” she said.
