In new PAS line-up, Iskandar dropped as Selangor commissioner

PAS vice-president Iskandar Abdul Samad has been dropped from his position as Selangor PAS state commissioner but the party’s secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Iskandar has instead been “promoted”.
“He is retained as vice-president and has instead been promoted,” said Takiyuddin in a press conference at the party’s headquarters after a central working committee meeting today.
He was responding to a query whether Iskandar was replaced as Selangor state commissioner due to the current situation in the Selangor state assembly.
Asked to justify the move, Takiyuddin said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had requested that Iskandar give more attention to the state.
“The three vice-presidents have been given the responsibility to take care of certain states.”
Iskandar, said Takiyuddin, will be in charge of the “middle and south zones” - Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor.
Fellow PAS vice-presidents Idris Ahmad and Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah will be in charge of the north and east coast zones respectively.
“Idris will be in charge of Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang while Mohd Amar will supervise Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan as well as Sabah and Sarawak.”
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has been tasked to administer the party’s foreign relations.
“Selangor is not the only state whose state commissioner has been replaced. We replaced the state commissioner of Terengganu and Johor, too,” Takiyuddin pointed out.
Iskandar was replaced by former Selangor state executive councillor and Sabak state assemblyperson Sallehen Mukhyi.
“It’s difficult if he’s both the vice-president and state commissioner. It would be difficult for him to monitor himself.
“Both Idris and Amar are not state commissioners,” Takiyuddin pointed out.
Explaining further on Iskandar’s job scope, Takiyuddin said Iskandar will oversee election affairs in the states he has been tasked to monitor.
“All three (vice-presidents) will be required to give their reports during the party’s meetings or to update the PAS president on related developments.”

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin also announced the replacement of Mustafa Ali by Hadi’s political secretary Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as the party’s election director.
Takiyuddin however denied that the move meant that Mustafa no longer had any role to play.
“He is still a party adviser, he is still needed. He will be advising on all things, even to the president.”- Mkini
