A single-storey building at the Section 15 police station in Shah Alam which housed the Narcotics Department was badly destroyed in a fire early this morning.
The assistant director of operations of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Mohd Sani Harul said the department received a distress call on the incident at 3.43 am and a team of 21 personnel from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the location together with three engines.
On arrival at the scene, the old building was already burning and the fire spread rapidly.
"The fire personnel managed to control the fire about one hour later and the operation ended at about 7 am and no casualties were reported,"he said in a statement, here today.
He said further inspection on the building found that the fire caused 60 per cent damage to the building.
