Nik Abduh: Harapan's chance of winning Putrajaya 'distant' without PAS

Harapan's hope of winning over Putrajaya has become distant, following PAS' exit from the opposition coalition, PAS' Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Aziz said.
The Pasir Mas MP was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that DAP, which he claims "leads" the opposition coalition, has only "two ways" to win over Putrajaya.
"The first is by making the non-Muslims the majority in the country, but to me this is far-off, as statistically, the number of Muslims are increasing in the country.
"Secondly, DAP can be the government when Muslims are set 'adrift', without caring about religion, and when they only care about money, the economy and their own livelihoods, hence they will take DAP's bait.
"However, we are confident that with PAS' preaching, Muslims will not go to the extent of accepting DAP's struggles," Nik Abduh was quoted as saying.
Nik Abduh was responding to the statement by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng that PAS is "sesat"(lost) for cutting ties with DAP and befriending Umno.
According to Nik Abduh, who is also a PAS central committee member, PAS' main goal is to empower Islam in the country, and this is the reason it cannot be part of Pakatan Harapan, as DAP is trying to turn Malaysia into a liberal country.

"With DAP's attitude and policy, it is clear their main struggle is 'Malaysian Malaysia', which was previously vaguely understood by the Malays.
"It is clear today that DAP is struggling to turn the country into a liberal one, without any religious ties, and this is why PAS cannot be with Harapan in its fight for Putrajaya.
"If we stay with Harapan, we cannot guarantee the 'win' will empower Islam as we wish. Hence, PAS will work with anyone, including Umno, to achieve its main goal of empowering Islam in the country," Nik Abduh said.- Mkini
