Takiyuddin: PAS has alternative plans if ties with PKR severed

PAS has alternative plans even if it decides to sever ties with its PKR ally, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said today.
Takiyuddin was responding to predictions by various political analysts that PAS would be the "biggest loser" should the PAS syura council decide to sever ties with PKR.
"Anyone can make predictions or analyses but we know what we are doing.
"We have alternative plans when we take a particular decision in politics. We do not simply decide, everything has been taken into account," he told reporters at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur after a central working committee meeting today.
Citing the party's experience and the existence of its own research centre, Takiyuddin also pointed out how the new PAS line-up was mostly made up of professionals.
"Out of the 18 PAS central committee members, four are medical doctors while five are PhD holders.
"I think the PAS composition now is made up of those who are capable and competent to face the general election," added Takiyuddin.
PAS last Sunday, unanimously passed a motion during its muktamar, urging the syura council to sever ties with PKR.

Although the syura council lacked executive powers, it is highly influential and is able to advise PAS' central committee to ultimately decide on the matter.
If the move is approved, the once-strong allies would be on a collision course during the general election.
Despite claims that the Selangor administration was on tenterhooks because of this, among others, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali was greeted by supporters including PAS executive councillors upon his return from a trip overseas yesterday.- Mkini
