BN always had a clear candidate for prime minister, unlike the opposition, said Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar.
However, when asked who will be BN's candidate for Selangor menteri besar, Noh said that this has yet to be decided.
"Oh, we don't have (a Selangor MB candidate). What's important is to win (Selangor) first, then we can discuss.
"Right now, we don't want to think about all that first, we want to think about winning first," Noh told a press conference at the Selangor Umno headquarters in Shah Alam today.
He later said that BN's candidate for prime minister has always been the Umno president, unlike the opposition who has no clear leader.
"The opposition has no leader. No matter what, our leader is clearly the Umno president, who will be our prime minister," he said.
Former Umno minister Zaid Ibrahim had suggested yesterday that the opposition coalition name Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their prime ministerial candidate.
With the 91-year-old former prime minister as their candidate, Zaid said that the opposition can convince Malays that it is unlikely someone else can "remote control" Mahathir.
So far, the opposition has yet to officially declare their candidate for prime minister though some leaders have indicated that it remains jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Previously, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had also speculated that the Selangor government might fall due to PAS severing ties with PKR.
There are three PAS excos serving in the current Selangor administration.
However, Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali had dismissed the claims and maintained that all present excos will serve till the end of their term. - Mkini
