Police say 29-year-old man was arrested following six reports lodged by parents and guardians of the alleged victims, aged 11 and 12, last Thursday.
KUALA LUMPUR: A teacher of a religious school in Bandar Baru Bangi near here has been detained by the police for allegedly molesting six students since 2014.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said the man was arrested following six reports lodged by parents and guardians of the alleged victims last Thursday.
Based on the victims’ statements, they had been molested by the teacher, aged 29, when they were at the school, which is under the supervision of the Selangor government, since 2014, he said.
Othman said the parents and guardians of the alleged victims decided to lodge police reports as no action had been taken by the school despite them having reported the matter a week ago.
“The victims, aged 11 and 12, did not tell anyone about the matter because they were embarrassed and feared being scolded by the suspect as they had promised him not to tell anyone about it,” he said when contacted today.
He said the suspect was in remand for four days until this Monday. -FMT
