Once again we see Perkasa revving up the ugly stokes of racist fear-mongering, and once again, unfortunately, Perkasa has singled out MCA as its punching bag.
Why does Perkasa single out MCA’s links with the Communist Party of China, but totally overlooks the fact that UMNO had inked a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the CPC as early as 4 August 2010, which is even earlier than MCA. At that time, on behalf of UMNO, its Secretary General Dato’ Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, signed the MoU on cooperation to have youth leadership exchanges so that the youth leaders of both countries can have a better understanding of the economic and social development taking place in Malaysia and China (Berrnama, 5 Aug 2010).
Why the silence then, and no chest thumping battle cry accusations of communist-ideology-infiltrating-UMNO-and-BN of today to UMNO and Malay NGO leaders in targeting MCA?
Why is Perkasa mute when every year, UMNO invites CPC to attend the UMNO Annual General Meeting (AGM)?
Not only MCA, but UMNO and other BN component parties also dispatch its cadres to the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) for training.
By keeping silent at UMNO’s bilateral relations with CPC, but provoking suspicions against MCA’s ties with CPC among Malay-based groups, Perkasa shows its true colours of practising double standards perched on racism. Even worse, it is obvious that Perkasa attempts to strike discord between the Malay and Chinese communities under the shallow xenophobic fear-mongering disguise of “communist-infiltration-a-danger-to-the-country.”
In addition to CPC, MCA enjoys good relationship with political parties from Indonesia, Taiwan as well as the People’s Action Party of Singapore. MCA is also a member to the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP). This Standing Committee comprises 37 political parties from 23 countries.
Halt China/Chinese/MCA bashing
It is time Perkasa and its likes stop this “Chinese Phobia” and MCA-bashing just because our party is seen to be civil and moderate in our approach. MCA will continue to walk the path of moderation and uphold sound principles for the greater good of the nation.
Perkasa has forgotten that it was Malaysia’s Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak who in 1974, established diplomatic relations with China, making Malaysia the first ASEAN country to do so. After that historic visit, Chairman Mao Zedong then urged the Malaysian Chinese not to support the Malayan Communist Party but be loyal citizens to Malaysia.
Or is Perkasa merely acting upon the instruction of its patron Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad who has since joined the Opposition in hammering BN which he once chaired for 22 years?
Terrorism – the REAL threat to Malaysia
A real and imminent threat and danger infiltrating into Malaysian society is terrorist activities by Malaysian IS operatives. Perkasa should slam PAS for according martyrdom status for its ex-member Mohd Lotfi who undertook terrorist activities against innocent civilians in Syria. Perkasa should single out the ilk of Malaysian IS leader Muhammad Wanndy and his followers who are recruiting more Malaysians to participate in security threat destabilising operations in Malaysia.
