AG to lead prosecution to charge Najib

Newly appointed attorney-general Tommy Thomas will lead the prosecution team when former premier Najib Abdul Razak is brought to the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow to face charges.
"There will also be a large team of prosecutors," Thomas told Malaysiakini when asked who will be part of the team.
On the number of charges to be filed against Najib, he replied: "Wait till tomorrow".
After his appointment as attorney-general, Thomas promised to spare no one in the 1MDB probe.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Najib is expected to face more than 10 counts of criminal breach of trust over the former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd, where it was alleged that RM42 million went into his private accounts.
The report said Najib will be brought before Sessions Court judge Zainal Abidin Kamaruddin and then High Court judge Azman Abdullah. Both are senior judges in their respective criminal courts.
Najib was arrested at his residence in Jalan Langgak Duta at 3pm and taken to the MACC headquarters.
Tomorrow, he is set to become the highest-ranked politician to be charged in the country.
Former ministers Kasitah Gaddam, Dr Ling Liong Sik and Chan Kong Choy were previously charged with corruption but they were all acquitted.
It remains to be seen as to who would represent Najib tomorrow, after former solicitor-general Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden and lawyer M Puravalen left, while senior lawyer Harpal Singh quit earlier.  Mkini
