PETALING JAYA: Taiwanese actress Celia Zhang says she did not receive any money or gifts from Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib during their outing in Taiwan on Thursday (July 5).
In a post on her Facebook page Saturday, a spokesman from Zhang's management agency said the actress, as the host for the evening footed the bills for the two of them.
"Zhang does not want the issue to be prolonged further and asks everyone not to worry," she wrote in Chinese.
The spokesperson added that Zhang had taken note of the comments on her Facebook page and thanked them for their "kind intentions".
.The post further said that after reading the comments, Zhang understood the sentiments of Malaysians over the incident.
However, the spokesperson added that the agency reserved the right to take legal action over any insults or threats made against Zhang.
On Thursday, Mohd Nazifuddin, the son of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was spotted spending a day with Zhang in Taipei, reported Taiwanese news portal Apple Daily.
In a follow-up report, the portal said that Zhang had denied any romantic relationship with Mohd Nazifuddin.
The actress said that she took a cab home after their meeting and did not spend the night with him.
The meeting between the two took place a day after Najib was released on bail following his arrest on July 3 for his role in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
