KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has almost completed gathering all the evidence from within the country that it needs for the ongoing probe into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), and is now focussing its efforts on obtaining more from abroad.
"This makes the status of completion (of the probe) at around 50%. Half of it is here, another half overseas," said Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull (pic).
He made the comment following his statement on Friday that the probe into the 1MDB scandal is 50% complete.
Mohd Shukri had earlier officiated the "Walk Stop Talk: Six Hours Quarter Million Messages" event, an anti-corruption awareness programme..
On Wednesday (July 4), former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Rzazak was charged with misusing his position as a government official to receive an RM42mil bribe as inducement to provide a sovereign guarantee on behalf of the Malaysian Government for a loan of RM4bil from government pension fund Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) to SRC International Sdn Bhd.
He was also charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT), allegedly committed during his former capacity as prime minister, finance minister and advisor emeritus of SRC International, in which he was entrusted with the RM4bil.
Najib pleaded not guilty to all the charges. -Star
