Don't blame me if Harapan can't decide on speaker, Najib tells Kula

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has shot back at Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran over the Pakatan Harapan government's seeming indecisiveness over its choice of Dewan Rakyat speaker.
Kulasegaran was reported by Bernama earlier today as saying that those harping over the delay in choosing a speaker were trying to distract from issues involving former premier Najib Abdul Razak.
In response, Najib said Harapan should stop blaming him for everything.
"I'm no longer the prime minister nor in the ruling government, why am I to blame for this speaker issue?
"My name continues to be used as an excuse every time the Harapan government fails to govern well or fulfil a promise in their 'sweet' manifesto.
"Harapan's standard operating procedure of 'It’s all Najib's fault' should stop. Or will this carry on for the next five years?" Najib posted on Facebook today.
He noted that under Parliament's standing orders, a name for the Dewan Rakyat speaker should be nominated to the Parliament secretariat at least 14 days before the House is in session.
Dewan Rakyat convenes on Monday, and Harapan has yet to name their proposed speaker.
Last week, there was speculation that it would be Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul, but the focus later shifted to former Court of Appeal Judge Mohamad Ariff Yusof.
Najib said Harapan not deciding on a speaker yet has stirred many questions on whether Parliament rules would be adhered to.
"If they can't obey rules of the highest body in the country (Parliament), how can it be said that this new government governs following the rule of law?" he said. - Mkini
