Lawyer and human rights activist Fadiah Nadwa Fikri has been called by the police to have her statements recorded again, a day after she was questioned yesterday following her controversial blog post on the monarchy in Malaysia.
She said she will be investigated under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA).
Fadiah said police will record her statements on Tuesday regarding the solidarity assembly to show support for her outside the Brickfields police district headquarters yesterday.
"It is said that there's a democracy... but clearly it's a lie. Police have abused their power and this is an intimidation to stop the public like me to express my thoughts and exercise my democratic right," she told reporters.
Fadiah said the PAA needs to be reviewed as the organiser must provide a 10-day notice before an assembly, which was unfair.
"This section of the Act prevents people from gathering peacefully. The reason being if there's an urgent case, people cannot exercise their right to assemble," she said.
Yesterday, she was called in for investigation after several police reports were lodged against her for allegedly questioning the institution of the monarchy in her blog called Malaysia Muda. -Mkini
