NAJIB STILL BANKING ON SOME ‘GODFATHER’ TO KEEP HIM OUT OF JAIL? THE SHOCK UNRAVELING OF TUN RAZAK’S ELDEST SON – EVEN HIS SIBLINGS WHO PARTOOK IN HIS COVER UP MAY NOT BE SPARED

All his life, whenever he had found himself in difficulties, there had always been someone by his side to steady him, someone behind him to guide him back to the right path or some “God Father” above him who did the necessary to extricate him from the dire situations he has got himself into from time to time.
Najib Razak had never understood responsibility, accountability nor has he been able to know right from wrong as he navigate himself through politics and through life from the time he found himself elected to the Parliament of Malaysia in 1976 at the age of 23. He became Mentri Besar of Pahang six years later. At every juncture of his meteoric rise through the ranks of Umno, the fact that he was the son of Tun Razak, was a “Get out of Jail” ticket that seems to guarantee that his path in Umno will only stop at the highest level possible for any mortal to achieve within that organisation….and so it came to be that Najib Razak became Prime Minister of  Malaysia in April 2009.
And from then on he was on his own.
In the early days of his Prime Ministership, I remembered how he dealt with the taking over of Perak from the then opposition and how the murder of Altantuya was dealt with by a compliant judiciary eager to do Najib’s bidding. In both situation Najib Razak used money and the political clout he had as Prime Minister to “resolve” the problem at hand. He succeeded in taking Perak from the opposition and with Altantuya the judicial process was compromised to arrive at a conclusion that was politically expedient for Najib Razak.
In hindsight the taking over of Perak and how the Altantuya trial was managed did more political damage to Najib then good because it set the precedent of how Najib Razak intended to do government….and surely having the Attorney General declare a guilty Najib Razak innocent of any wrongdoing is the image that will remain within my mind for many years to come.
In between we have been “entertained” by Rosmah, Isa Samad, the Bugis Warrior episode, the sacking of Mahyuddin, the RM2.6 billion donations and a procession of dedak infested individuals eager to do the bidding of Najib Razak for financial gain. The inevitable end of  Najib Razak, Umno and Barisan Nasional finally came at GE14….and now the public unraveling of Najib Razak will start….and there will be no one around who can save him from himself but himself.
This, Najib Razak cannot do, because he is unable to understand what it is that he has done wrong. He does not understand that as Prime Minister gifts from a Saudi Prince or any one else valued in the millions or even billions must be refused lest someone think him to be corrupt. He does not understand that as Prime Minister anything that happens under his watch is his responsibility. And Najib Razak is certainly unable to comprehend that even though he claims that he has been taken advantage of by others, he and he alone must take responsibility for the decisions that he has made during his time as Prime Minister because, as Harry Truman said ” The buck stops here”.
Maybe it will have to be his mother, Toh Puan Rahah, who would have to make him understand what is now happening to him. Maybe in time, as he begins to understand  that PDRM, MACC, the Attorney General and the Judiciary are all working to make him be accountable for what has happened in the past decade of his time in office. …maybe then it will dawned upon Najib that he is indeed facing jail time.
Maybe when he understands that there is nobody around who will stand by him or extricate him from the predicament he is now in….then maybe that will be the time that Najib Razak will begin to understand what most of us understand….that what you do in life has consequences.
If, and when that happens, it will be too late for Najib Razak to do anything for himself….and for me there really is no satisfaction in seeing a man punished simply because he has failed in doing something he should never have been asked to do in the first place….be it being Mentri Besar of Pahang, President of Umno or Prime Minister of Malaysia.
