Write to authorities, Hanipa tells Najib on daughter’s frozen account

The deputy minister says this follows news that Najib Razak's daughter who is a cancer patient has been unable to pay her chemotherapy bills.

DENGKIL: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Hanipa Maidin has advised former prime minister Najib Razak to direct his lawyers to write to the authorities for leeway concerning the freezing of his daughter’s account.

Hanipa said he had heard that Najib’s daughter, Puteri Norlisa Najib, who has fourth stage cancer, was having trouble paying her chemotherapy bills as the account had been frozen.

“If what is reported is true, I do not think there will be a problem for the former prime minister to have his lawyers write to the relevant parties to withdraw a sum from the frozen account for the purpose of paying the bills.

“I’m not sure if he has done what I told him to. He can also write to me or Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of law Liew Vui Keong,” he said at the Sepang parliamentary constituency Adilfitri celebration here last night.

Hanipa, who is the MP for Sepang, said the matter would be discussed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

“If you have not done so, do not continue to accuse Pakatan Harapan of tyranny,” he said.

However, Najib said in a statement on his Facebook page that his children’s accounts were no longer frozen. -FMT
