Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi paid a visit to Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, his rival in last month's Umno polls, to discuss the party's future.
"I asked how he was and discussed the direction of Umno for the better. We showed the spirit of friendship," Zahid tweeted.
He shared photos of their meeting at Razaleigh's oval office replica, at his Kuala Lumpur home popularly known as the White House.
Zahid had defeated Razaleigh in a multi-cornered fight for the Umno presidency last month, which also featured Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin. Razaleigh got the least number of votes.
The meeting with Razaleigh comes as Khairy distances himself from Zahid's leadership lineup.
He had refused to accept any positions in Umno so that he can continue to be critical.
Khairy had chastised Zahid's move to appoint former attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali to the supreme council.
He was also among two Umno MPs who did not join a walk out on the first day of Parliament, where BN protested the swearing-in of Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
