Amanah and DAP turn to Dr M in bid for stability

Amanah and DAP are throwing their support behind Dr Mahathir Mohamad amid continued uncertainty in the country's direction.
DAP sources told Malaysiakini that if Pakatan Harapan can secure enough seats to form a government they will renominate Mahathir to be prime minister.
"We have trust in Mahathir. He is also disappointed with Bersatu and assured he will not collaborate with Umno.
"If we nominate Anwar Ibrahim as PM, this would make Mahathir look like the person who led Bersatu and 11 PKR MPs to quit Harapan," said sources.

Likewise, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu (below) also announced that his party would back Mahathir.
"Amanah wishes to stress our position that we fully support Mahathir as prime minister and to continue leading Harapan," he said.
Mahathir had resigned as prime minister and as Bersatu chairperson.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, meanwhile, announced the party would quit Harapan leaving the coalition without the numbers to form a government.
The political shifts appear to be aimed at scuttling a handover of power to Anwar.
When met by reporters after his audience with the King, Anwar said he had advised Mahathir against resigning.
"I did appeal to him on behalf of PKR and Harapan. This treachery could be dealt with together.
"But of course he was of a different mind, he thought he shouldn't be treated in that manner, to associate him with working with those literally corrupt," the PKR president said.
He added that he believed that those staging the coup had used Mahathir's name without his consent.
Mahathir is scheduled to meet the Agong later this evening to discuss his resignation. - Mkini

  1. But didn't you guys ask Tun to resign last Friday? You guys were pressuring him to leave. Well he left. Now you guys are asking him to come back. Too late guys. Should have thought of the consequence last Friday.
