KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail have left Istana Negara after less than an hour of their much anticipated audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah arrived at 2.32pm accompanied by a motorcade then left at 3.20pm through Gate 2 of Istana Negara.
Their meeting drew major media attention as it came following the shocking announcement that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was resigning from his post.
The meeting also came a day after Dr Mahathir was reported to be maneuvering to form a new ruling coalition with Anwar’s rival, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s PKR faction and Umno, PAS plus Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). - Star
