The Attorney-General's Chambers is expected to release details of a caretaker government amidst political turmoil following what appeared to be the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.
"Yes, I'm preparing a press release. As to the contents, please wait," attorney-general Tommy Thomas told Malaysiakini.
The Harapan government collapse following Dr Mahathir Mohamad's shock resignation as prime minister which triggered the withdrawal of 37 MPs from the ruling coalition.
There is a remote possibility that an MP would still be able to form a new government if the person can prove majority support to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
If that doesn't happen, fresh elections would likely be called.
