13 remanded, 64 fined for flouting RMCO

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob says free Covid-19 screenings will be held for migrant construction workers in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.
PETALING JAYA: Seventy-seven individuals were arrested by police yesterday for flouting regulations under the recovery movement control order (RMCO), Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri said.
He said 15 of them had taken part in contact sports, 12 were detained in pubs or nightclubs and 50 others were caught for breaching SOPs.
Thirteen were remanded by police while the other 64 were fined, he said in a statement.
Ismail said 1,171 Malaysians returned yesterday from Indonesia, Singapore, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, China, Pakistan, Brunei, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Australia and the Philippines.
Seven were taken to hospital while the rest were allowed to undergo self-quarantine at home.
He also said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) issued warnings to four construction sites after they were found breaching the SOPs.
A total of 495 construction sites had been issued warnings so far over non-compliance with SOPs, while 19 had been shut.
Ismail said the CIDB would collaborate with the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to hold free Covid-19 screenings for all migrant workers in the construction sector in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor. - FMT
