PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a senior manager of a government-linked company suspected of accepting bribes.
According to a source, the suspect, a 41-year-old man, was detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at about 5pm yesterday.
“The senior manager was entrusted to manage projects related to petroleum exploration, and took advantage by asking for bribes as a reward for awarding petroleum exploration contracts in Terengganu,” the source said.
It added that the suspect is believed to have received around RM300,000 in bribes for the award of the contracts.
It is understood that the suspect was brought to the Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya which granted a five-day remand.
