PETALING JAYA: The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) will see a change of guard at the end of July when CEO Ali Salman leaves the think tank.
In a statement, IDEAS said Ali would replaced by its former chief operating officer Tricia Yeoh.
Ali, who is from Pakistan, joined IDEAS in 2017. He took over as CEO from Wan Saiful Wan Jan who left to join politics.
“It was an enriching and rewarding professional experience to work in a prominent independent think tank of Malaysia during these turbulent times and indeed an honour to develop and lead a great team,” he said.
IDEAS chairman Tunku Zain Al-Abidin Tuanku Muhriz paid tribute to Ali for his contributions and welcomed Yeoh on board.
“The board looks forward to working with her in pursuing liberty and justice for all Malaysians as envisaged by Tunku Abdul Rahman.”
Yeoh, an author and editor of several books, is also the director of award-winning documentary “The Rights of the Dead”.
“I look forward to working closely with our partners, supporters and colleagues in the often challenging but rewarding task of advocating democratic, economic and social reforms in Malaysia through evidence-based public policy research,” she said. - FMT
