Amanah wants to contest Bersatu seats in GE15

 

Amanah intends to contest the seats that were once allocated to Bersatu in the 15th general election (GE15).

Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa said the policy set by Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) was clear that all component parties can claim the seats allocated to Bersatu in GE14.

“Alhamdulillah, the discussions have been completed without any problems and we are just waiting for the announcement of candidates at the Harapan Convention to be held in Ipoh, Perak, on Oct 20," Mujahid (above) told reporters after attending the Bicara Politik Semasa programme last night.

The Harapan coalition consists of PKR, DAP, Amanah and the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko).

In GE14, Bersatu was a Harapan component party before withdrawing from the coalition on Feb 23, 2020.

Commenting further, Mujahid said that in previous discussions at the national level, Amanah would contest 30 to 40 seats in GE15, but stressed it depends on the decision that will be announced later.

He said the list of candidates including the prime ministerial candidate, manifesto and theme for GE15 will be announced at the Harapan Convention.
